The PM200 is a power booster interface module that fits inside of a Von Duprin, Doromatic or Command Access modified electric latch pull-back exit device. When installed in the exit device it allows for a much longer wire run from the power supply to the exit device (typically 500’+ with 18/2 wire) than the exit device manufacturer’s original recommendations. This is great solution for projects that were pre-wired with too thin of a gauge wire or where a discerning architect wants all the power supplies consolidated in a central room for simplified maintenance. Also what sets apart the PM200 from the PM100 is it will allow the exit device to be powered by most 1.5A or greater 24VDC switching or linear power supplies which includes most of the Altronix line. This is a great solution when the original exit device manufacturer’s power supply is not available or is cost prohibitive. Also with our new “smart start” technology the PM200 is much gentler with fuses and relays than the original PM100. When using the PM100 with a power supply other than the one recommended by the manufacturer for the device we recommend that the output fuse be rated at 3.5-4 amps and the relays rated at least 5 amps.

Here’s how the PM200 works – When the exit device is triggered the power supply sends power to PM200. The PM100 is charged up quickly then releases its high-amperage charge to the exit device solenoid giving it what it needs to retract the latch bolt. Typically there is a 250ms to 1sec. delay (depending on the length of the wire run and the gauge) from when the device is triggered to when the latch is retracted. Once the latch bolt is retracted the PM200 switches the dual coil solenoid to the “holding” coil allowing the device to remain energized continuously if desired.
